Lots of good food and wine combinations this week but I’m picking out the one with the most unusual wine: Barbeito's Rainwater 5 year old reserva medium-dry madeira which I had at Bell’s Diner in Bristol on Friday night

Made the first but what certainly won’t be the last of the recipes from @sami_tamimi’s glorious new book Boustany which is about vegetable-based cooking inspired by his homeland of Palestine. It’s the crushed broad beans with goat’s cheese and preserved lemon salsa. Although he makes it with frozen broad beans and peas which makes it a brilliant storecupboard standby I made it with fresh given both are in season - just the perfect taste of summer. Seems so very wrong that his compatriots can’t eat food like this, and in many cases struggle to feed themselves and their families at all. . . . #broadbeans #favabeans #peas #dip #goatscheese #preservedlemon #boustany #samitamimiForget starters and mains!
